Postdoctoral Fellowship on Mitochondrial Biology and Metabolism in Neurodegenerative Disease

Postdoctoral Fellowship on Mitochondrial Biology and Metabolism in Neurodegenerative Disease, in the laboratory of Dr. Ken Nakamura. Potential areas of investigation include the identification, characterization and therapeutic targeting of pathways that regulate energy levels, and mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolism and neural activity in neurodegenerative diseases, especially Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.  Requirements include a PhD and/or MD, a strong background in biomedical research and a track record of research excellence.  Passion for science, dedication, integrity, good problem solving and interpersonal skills are critical. Experience in human or rodent neuronal culture systems, mouse models of the brain, cell biology, flow cytometry and/or microscopy are preferred.  Career development aimed towards leadership positions in academia and industry will be a priority.  The laboratory is situated in Gladstone’s highly interactive, multidisciplinary research facility at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus, and draws upon the joint strengths of the Gladstone and UCSF communities.  Please send curriculum vitae, description of accomplishments and research interests, and the names of three references to: ken.nakamura@gladstone.ucsf.edu.
