Goal
The EUTOPIA Science and Innovation Fellowship Program is an ambitious initiative to train young research leaders. This strategic program is launched by the EUTOPIA alliance, a network of six universities which recently received an Erasmus + pilot project “European Universities”. It brings together the University of Paris Seine, the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel , Goeteborgs Universitet, Univerza v Ljubljani and the University of Warwick, who have joined forces to provide fellows with a world-class research ecosystem focused on innovation.
The program focuses on five areas of interdisciplinary key research:
1- Materials Engineering;
2- Data & Intelligence;
3- Health;
4- Durability;
5- Well-being and inclusion .
The program offers 76 two-year postdoctoral fellowships over five years and aims to promote the research potential and career prospect of outstanding and innovative young researchers. Fellows are offered complete freedom to pursue their research project while benefiting from expert academic supervision, cutting-edge research infrastructure and being part of an interdisciplinary research community. The program offers career mentoring; and promotes transferable skills, innovation and entrepreneurship awareness and secondment to partners. While letting fellows choose their host university, the program will create a transnational community of researchers through joint initiatives such as annual symposia, a strong network, etc. International mobility, both among EUTOPIA members and to international academic institutions, will be encouraged. Paris Seine University will manage the program on behalf of the EUTOPIA alliance. The program will be based on unified governance, a common and high-level selection process and the sharing of resources. In addition, more than 45 companies, local communities and non-profit organizations that are ready to train or host seconded researchers are already supporting the program.
