QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree of Master in Science in Management, Economics or equivalent (or close to completion).
- Knowledge of and a strong interest in quantitative methods.
- A high level of English proficiency. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is not a requirement.
- Strong team-spirit and communicative skills.
- A commitment to research excellence.
The Ph.D. student will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Mueller (IÉSEG School of Management) and Prof. Dr. Dirk Czarnitzki (Dept. of Management, Strategy and Innovation at FEB, KU Leuven).
The successful candidate will work on a better understanding of innovation outcomes. There is a growing interest in mechanisms and contingencies that link the structure of the owner team to innovation performance in private firms. Owners decide upon the innovation strategy and are partly responsible for its implementation. Part of the PhD project is to develop a large-scale database and to conduct state-of-the-art econometric analyses. Participation in international conferences to discuss the work is encouraged.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The selected applicant is expected to begin in September 2022. Gross salary will be competitive with other European research and academic institutions. The Ph.D. student will be based in Lille (on the site of IÉSEG School of Management) but given the partnership with IÉSEG and KU Leuven, the student will have to spend minimum 1 year at KU Leuven. The first year of the Ph.D. program will take place on the campus of KU Leuven. The Ph.D. student will receive all the means and support to engage in innovative business-relevant research projects with high potential to get published in top international peer-reviewed journals.
