Job Summary
Imperial College School of Medicine is looking for enthusiastic Strategic Teaching Fellows to transform our campus delivery to blended/remote, working as part of a team to develop, implement, maintain, support and co-ordinate the delivery of interactive e-learning materials, projects and activities for designated BSc Pathways within your Department.
As part of the College’s Learning & Teaching Strategy we have been implementing our new undergraduate medical programme. The new curriculum is comprised of three phases (1, 2 and 3). These teaching fellow positions relate to Phase 2, our intercalated BSc Science Year. You will work within one or two of the Faculty of Medicine’s eight Departments.
There are three roles available and the post holders will work with the following BSc pathways:
- Anaesthesia and Critical Care; Cancer Frontiers; Surgical Design, Technology and Innovation
- Endocrinology; Reproductive and Development Sciences; Pharmacology
- Neuroscience and Mental Health; Haematology; Immunity and Infection
Duties and responsibilities
To support the provision of an excellent student experience and help the Faculty’s academic and teaching staff deliver world-class blended/remote education through analysing and identifying e-learning needs. Maintaining and further developing e-learning resources in collaboration with academic staff.
Evaluating the effectiveness of adopted learning technologies or resources; and working collaboratively with the Faculty of Medicine Instructional Designers, e-Learning Technologists, academic staff, ICT, and other colleagues who support teaching via e-learning methods to design and develop engaging, interactive and instructionally sound materials that address varied learning styles and are accessible to all students, including those with disabilities.
Essential requirements
You will be highly motivated, and able to work autonomously and cooperatively with others. You will have an influential presence and be able to inspire and interact with a cross-section of staff and students in order to support the adoption of technology-enhanced learning. A positive, personable and problem-solving approach is essential, as is the ability to show initiative and adaptability. Due to the nature of the role, the post involves periods of high activity that will require a flexible approach to working hours.
In addition, subject matter expertise in one or more of the following fields:
- Surgery, Cancer, or Anaesthesia
- Endocrinology, Reproductive and Development Sciences, or Pharmacology
- Neuroscience, Haematology or Immunology
