Scope of duties
We offer an exciting position in the cross-section of innate immunology and tumor immunotherapy. Our research group (head: Dr. Lars König and Prof. Dr. Max Schnurr) investigates various aspects of innate immunology within the tumor microenvironment in order to translate findings into novel antitumor immunotherapies. A special focus lies on the understanding and utilization of nucleic acid sensing pathways that can be harnessed for an in situ-vaccination approach to treat tumors (Boehmer et al, Science Immunology, 2021; Ruzicka et al., Leukemia, 2020). The postdoc will work with a broad range of methodologies from biochemistry via cell-based assays, functional genomics and microscopy to pre-clinical tumor models. The research group is embedded in multiple collaborative research programs including CRC1321 “Modelling and targeting pancreatic cancer” (www.sfb1321.med.tum.de/en) and the doctoral program iTarget (Immunotargeting of Cancer) of the Elite Network of Bavaria (www.immunotarget.de) providing a resource-rich research environment and excellent networking possibilities.

Our requirements
We are looking for highly ambitious applicants with a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) who strive for scientific excellence and enjoy multifaceted methodological approaches. Applicants should enjoy to work in a team together with doctoral students and other postdocs, should have very good laboratory experience and a good publication record. Experimental skills and knowledge in immunology and cell biology as well as in vivo-models are desirable.

Our offer
Starting as of now we offer a DFG funded postdoc position for two years with the possibility of extension in a young and dynamic research environment with excellent infrastructure and multiple training offers. The salary is based on the German public service scale taking into account the candidate’s background and experience (TV-L).

Our research group is one of four groups in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology (director: Prof. Stefan Endres; www.klinische-pharmakologie.de) that focus on various aspects of tumor immunology and immunotherapy. It hosts scientifc doctoral students, physicians and postdocs in a young team at an internationally competitive level. The Division has full training capacities and clearance for the medical board specialities clinical pharmacology and immunology.
