The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization-InterVac (VIDO-InterVac) is seeking a Research Scientist to establish a competitive research program in infectious disease immunology and vaccine development. VIDO-InterVac is one of Canada’s largest research organizations focused on infectious diseases of humans and animals, and a world leader in developing a vaccine for the novel COVID-19.  The organization currently has >150 staff and some of the most advanced infrastructure in the world, including the International Vaccine Centre (InterVac) – one of the largest high containment facilities in the world. Position:

We are looking for an outstanding individual who has a strong background in single cell immunology, host-pathogen interactions, and vaccinology. Reporting to the Director and CEO, the successful candidate is responsible for establishing and building a strong, competitive, independent and externally funded research program in immunology and the development and evaluation of novel mitigations strategies and in the advancement of several product candidates with corporate and academic partners.

The Research Scientist will lead a team (technicians and students) in single-cell immunology research related to infectious diseases. In this capacity, the Research Scientist is also expected to engage in national and international fund development activities (grant applications) required to maintain the necessary levels of support for the team’s research. It is through these activities that the Research Scientist will contribute to elevating the awareness, recognition and profile of VIDO-InterVac globally.

The team at VIDO-InterVac is comprised of members who share a passion for research and solutions related to some of the world’s most infectious diseases. The organization is structured across five research departments: Bacterial Vaccine Development, Clinical Research, Contract Research, Vaccine Formulation, and Viral Vaccine Development. This structure, combined with VIDO-InterVac’s affiliation with the University of Saskatchewan, allows for opportunities for the Research Scientist to collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team of leading researchers. VIDO-InterVac’s ecosystem and business model also allows researchers to see the full impact and end-result of their work.
