Coronavirus: Trump declares state of emergency in the United States

On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced a “national emergency” across the United States to fight the recent epidemic of the Corona virus, which has infected nearly 1,500 people in the country and killed around 40 people.

“In order to unleash the full potential of federal government resources, I am officially announcing the national emergency,” Trump said at a press conference.

He said the move will pave the way for $ 50 billion to help states fight the virus.

It will grant great powers to the Minister of Health, including bypassing certain regulations, giving medical care providers “maximum flexibility” in caring for patients.

He said his administration “has made great strides” in the fight against the virus, thanks to procedures followed in the past period, including by imposing travel restrictions and closing borders.

In this regard, Trump said that anyone entering the United States will be subject to quarantine and controls, and “we will prevent some.”
