Founded in 1947, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU), is the earliest affiliated hospital of Zhejiang University, a world-renowned institution with multiple distinctive disciplines. As one of the top Regional and National Medical Centers, jointly operated with the Provincial Government and National Health Commission, FAHZU has evolved into a first-class hospital seamlessly integrating preventative-medical care, education, and scientific research. FAHZU currently employs about 10,000 faculty and staff members and has six campuses and over 5,000 patient beds. As one of the top-ranked hospitals in China, FAHZU consists of multiple unique centers of excellence, such as organ transplantation, infectious diseases, hematology, nephrology, urology, and clinical pharmacy. The organ transplantation center, for instance, provides all types of transplantation in China, including pancreas, lung, kidney, small bowel and heart transplants.

The other two major pillars of FAHZU are medical education and research, especially in the areas of translation. Many resident and fellow doctors trained in FAHZU have become the leaders across China. Currently, FAHZU is the home to one National Clinical Medical Research Center, one State Key Laboratory, two State Key Disciplines and 22 State Key Clinical Specialties. With about 430,000 square feet of research space, FAHZU has accordingly provided many lines of state-of-the-art equipment, including two-photon confocal microscopy, small animal in vivo PET imaging, high-end mass-spec and cytometry profiling systems.

Types of Available Positions

1. Established Leaders

1) “Qiushi” Distinguished Scholar (including professor and physician)

• Age under 55-years old;

• Doctor’s Degree;

– Associate professorship from a top-tier foreign university or professorship from a Chinese university and/or with equivalent professional title.

• Proven strong work, academic and teaching ethics;

• Proven high level of academic achievement to develop related specialty to a world-caliber, expertise in clinical diagnosis and treatment, preferred;

• Demonstrated ability related to teamwork, organization, and management.

2) Physician

• Age under 55-years old.

• Doctor’s Degree;

– Professorship from a top-tier university (physicians should obtain a senior professional tile and associate professorship).

• Proven strong work, academic and teaching ethics;

• Proven solid academic reputation in related field;

• Demonstrated ability related to teamwork, organization, and management.

2. Junior Talents

1) Physician of “Hundred Talents Program”

• Age under 45-years old.

• Doctor’s Degree;

– Active Doctor’s Certification, with at least 5 years’ experience in clinical care or related study.

• Proven strong work, academic and teaching ethics;

• Demonstrated academic potential and skills.

2) Distinguished (Associate) Researcher

• Distinguished researcher should be under 40-years old; Distinguished associate researcher should be under 37 years old;

• Doctor’s Degree, major in life sciences and related fields;

– Prior experience as a postdoctoral fellow is usually required.

• Proven strong work, academic and teaching ethics;

• Demonstrated academic potential and skills with ability related to teamwork.

3) Postdoctoral Fellow

• Age under 35-years old preferred;

• Doctor’s Degree obtained from a prestigious university in last 3 years;

• Authorship (First Author) of publications in top-tier scientific journals during doctoral period or in the last 2 years;

• Proven strong work, academic and teaching ethics.
