The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University is currently seeking applications for a tenured professor position at the level of Assistant Professor in Applied Artificial Intelligence, broadly defined. Exceptional applications at other levels will also be considered.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the following areas:

  • Applications of machine learning (MA) approaches related to engineering sciences, including, but not limited to:
  • Robotics and Control, Sim2Real, Policy Design and Reinforcement Learning;
  • Computer vision, medical imaging and multimodal understanding;
  • Computer graphics, human-machine and haptic interaction;
  • Hardware architecture, systems and software engineering;
  • Secure, reliable and ethical AI;
  • Sustainable and energy-efficient learning systems.

The expected start date of employment is August 1, 2022.

The successful candidate will have to set up an internationally competitive research group. The candidate will carry out high quality research, obtaining internal and external funding that will allow him or her to bring the necessary resources (both material and human) to the establishment of his team.

Qualifications and training required:
Applicants should have a doctorate or soon, preferably with an undergraduate degree in electrical, computer or software engineering. It is essential to be able to demonstrate excellent research achievements, especially in the fields of applied machine learning, reinforcement learning, artificial intelligence or related fields – which should be demonstrated, in part, through a strong record of publications in leading journals and conferences devoted to machine learning / artificial intelligence and applications (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, ICRA, CVPR, MICCAI, IROS, ICCV, ECCV, SIGGRAPH). This list of places is not exhaustive, and
