Western University invites applications for a three-year Limited-Term faculty appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications and experience, to participate primarily in the delivery of Computer Science undergraduate programs. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science. The salary will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.
This position has an 80% Teaching and 20% Service workload distribution. Teaching duties will include up to 3.0 full course equivalents over a twelve-month period, while Service duties will include program coordination.
Requirements:
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science
- Experience teaching at the postsecondary level that includes core computer science
courses and courses for non-CS majors

- Innovative undergraduate course, curriculum, or laboratory design and evaluation
- Outstanding teaching evaluations
- The effective implementation of technology in curriculum delivery

- Experience in providing high-impact learning experiences for undergraduate students
- Interest and/or experience in the scholarship of teaching and learning
- Training in pedagogy or teaching at the university level

Computer Science (csd.uwo.ca) is a research-intensive Department in Western’s Faculty of Science, with both undergraduate and graduate programs. Established research areas within the Department include algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning, bioinformatics, computational neuroscience, distributed systems, software engineering and theoretical computer science. The Department has strong ties to industry and strongly encourages and supports participation in interdisciplinary research. The Department jointly offers an undergraduate data science program, a professional Master’s in data analytics and a collaborative Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence. Research is supported by the SHARCNET high performance computing facilities and the Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform (SOSCIP).
The university campus is in London Ontario, a city of 410,000, located midway between Toronto and Detroit.
