YOUR TASKS

  • Assistance in the practice-based teaching at the Department of Linguistics, section of Scandinavian studies (organization, guidance and evaluation of practical exercises and seminars), specifically for Norwegian.
  • Supervision and assessment of papers, research assignments and master theses.
  • Collaboration to the internal and external services of the Department of Linguistics, (support in) the organization of conferences and public events, representation at Sid-Ins (etc.).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a Master degree in Linguistics and literature, Historical Linguistics and Literature, Comparative Modern Literature with specialization in Scandinavian studies, or an equivalent degree. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching at the department.
  • You have excellent (near-native) oral and written proficiency in Norwegian, as well as good communication and editorial skills in Norwegian.
  • You have experience in guiding students.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a 1 year appointment, which will not be renewed. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 October 2023 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales.
