Bioinformatics postdoctoral position: (Level A) $91,402 to $97,927 or (Level B) $102,952 to $121,779 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

3 year fixed term full time postdoctoral opportunity available in the newly established Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics (ACE).

One bioinformatic position available to work within Professor Jose Polo’s group in the recently established Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics (ACE). This opportunity is for high achieving postdoctoral researchers to join the recently relocated Polo group in a collaborative framework in the application and development of new computational methods for the analysis of single cell, spatial Omics, and epigenomics data. ACE is a newly established centre within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences focusing on epigenetic research and cell fate, which will include research in development, reprogramming and cancer.  The Adelaide Centre for Epigenetics is associated with the recently established South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) which will be the state’s world class cancer research institute.

To be successful at Level A, you will need:

  • Completion of a PhD in biology, computational biology, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, biostatistics, statistics or bioinformatics or have equivalent qualifications or research experience
  • Programming experience with bash, and R and/or python scripting languages.
  • Experience in the analysis and integration of single cell NextGen sequencing data.
  • Experience in the analysis and integration of bulk RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq/ CUT&Tag-seq and DNA genome-wide methylation datasets.
  • Evidence of strong contribution towards research relevant to the particular field of study/interest

In addition to the above, to be successful at Level B, you will also need:

  • Strong track record of high-quality publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity
  • Techniques for reproducible research and version control, including but not limited to experience generating knitr reports, GitHub repositories, and R package development.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, including leading research, where applicable in cancer systems and/or developmental biology using high throughput genomics
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of successful proposal submissions to external funding bodies.
  • Demonstrated capacity to supervise students.
