Laurentian University
The School of Education in the Faculty of Education and Health at Laurentian University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant /Associate Professor with a specialization in Educational Foundations (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion). The preferred start date is July 1, 2024*.
Candidates must have completed a PhD degree by the start date of the appointment and relevant experience can be an asset. The successful candidate will have the following essential qualifications:
- A degree in education with a specialization in Social Foundations (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion), educational psychology or related field
- Hold or be eligible to obtain an Ontario Teaching Certificate
- At least 3 years of experience teaching K-12
- Evidence of the ability to effectively teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Education Foundations, with a commitment to pedagogical and academic excellence, promoting a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment, and advancing Laurentian University’s bilingual and tricultural mandates
- Evidence of very good research and scholarship with the potential to work collaboratively with colleagues, secure grant funding and build internal and external interdisciplinary or intersectoral collaborations
- Commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive and vibrant academic and work environment
- Strong pedagogy in universal design for learning, culturally responsive teaching, and assessment
- Bilingualism and university teaching experience are strong assets
In addition to active engagement and participation in teaching and research, the successful candidate will be expected to make contributions through service to the School, Faculty, University, and broader community. Candidates qualified for consideration at the rank of Associate Professor may have opportunities for leadership within the school of Education. An on-campus presence is expected.
The School of Education offers strong teacher education programs at Laurentian University in both of Canada’s official languages. Our concurrent program (English) allows undergraduate students to obtain a combined BEd/BA degree in five (5) years. Our students complete practicum experiences in Greater Sudbury, as well as in K-12 schools throughout Ontario. Laurentian University, located on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory in Sudbury, Ontario, serves over 8000 students and is one of two bilingual universities in the province of Ontario. - A statement of current and prospective teaching experience and interests
- A statement of current and prospective research interests
