The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and University Hospital Basel are looking to fill the position of: Professor of Molecular Medicine

A professorship in molecular medicine (successor professorship molecular medicine with a current research topic of hematological malignancies) is available in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and University Hospital Basel. The professorship is integrated into the Department of Biomedicine of the University of Basel.
The holder of the position is expected to develop an outstanding research portfolio in molecular medicine. The topic of research is open but should fit into one of the focal areas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and the University Hospital Basel. Candidates working in, but not restricted to, areas of cancer research with strong clinical translational potential are encouraged to apply. Interaction with the clinicians of the University Hospital Basel is expected. The research program should forge collaborations with the other research institutions in the Basel Life Sciences Cluster and the pharmaceutical industry in the local area.
You are an MD, MD/PhD or PhD, have an outstanding track record in biomedical science and have demonstrated novel and ground-breaking concepts in studying human disease. You have distinctive research expertise, leadership, and communication skills placing you in an important position to develop a highly competitive research program within the research strategy of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and the University Hospital Basel. You have demonstrated the ability to attract substantial extramural funding for your research. You are committed to mentoring and promoting early career scientists, and to contribute to the inspiring research environment and culture at the Department of Biomedicine. You have experience in teaching at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
