The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a full-time two-year term position at the Instructor 1 level, commencing 1 July 2020, or on a mutually agreed upon date. The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development. Outstanding candidates in any area of Mathematics will be considered, with particular emphasis on candidates who will complement or extend the department’s strengths in the teaching of undergraduate curriculum and service courses to the University, including Engineering. Preference will be given to those with teaching experience and Ph.D (preferred) or M.Sc. or other distinguishing attributes in Mathematics or a related field. Duties may include undergraduate teaching, including live lecture, on-line and distance delivery formats, pedagogical/course development and assessment, and service-related activities. The successful candidate will have a track record of outstanding teaching contributions and course development or evidence of the potential and interest to develop such a record, and will exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

The Department currently has 25 full time tenured and tenure track faculty members and 7 Instructors, and offers a full range of both undergraduate and graduate programs in Mathematics. The Department has a well-established and equipped research facility, including a collaboration room, computing cluster, and facilities to support the use of Crowdmark, and is supported by strong research links with other University of Manitoba units including Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, Education, Engineering and Statistics.
