Job Opening in Ion Beam Physics

The Laboratory of Ion Beam Physics at ETH Zurich is recruiting a scientist to head its materials analysis program. The laboratory, situated at the Hönggerberg campus, runs a 1.7 MV Tandetron and a 6 MV Tandem accelerator equipped with instrumentation for MeV ion beam analysis (RBS, PIXE, ERDA, NRA) and ion beam modification including a nuclear microprobe and a high resolution charged particle spectrometer.

Job description

The holder of this position will work in a wide variety of collaborations with external users of the facility, and as such have an outgoing personality along with skills to talk to people from different backgrounds and disciplines. The position is intended as a long-term employment. The successful candidate is expected to supervise a small team and will report directly to the head of laboratory. She/he is encouraged to initiate and pursue own research projects aimed at the improvement of existing instrumentation and the development of emerging techniques. In addition to experience in ion beam analysis and related data analysis procedures, a good understanding of nuclear physics equipment and appropriate experimental skills are of advantage.

Your profile

Candidates should have a PhD degree in a relevant subject and be able to take on routine academic duties at ETH Zurich.
