Research Pitching Competition by Slush & Skolar sets the stage for ambitious postdoctoral researchers from all around the world and from all fields of research. Its aim to give researchers a lot of confidence and motivate them to take a huge step forward in their career.

The applicants will present an idea for a new research proposal. The Skolar team and Slush want to encourage researchers to show their brilliant ideas to the bigger audience and find new potential for collaboration within the sizzling Slush audience.

• Application period ends at 18 September.
• Finalists will be revealed at 10 October.
• Kickoff for finalists (live/video) at 23 October.
• Individual coaching sessions (live/video) at 5-6 November.
• Bootcamp and dress rehearsal in Helsinki at 19-21 November.
• Research Pitching Competition final at Slush at 22 November.

• The competition is open for all fields of research and can be applied by postdoctoral researchers, meaning researchers who have received their doctoral degree by the end of the application period, 18th of September 2019.
• There should not be more than five years from the date you received your phd, meaning 18th of September 2014 (excluding parental leaves calculated on the basis of the Finnish model, 4 months per child, regardless of the nationality of the applicant).
• An individual researcher or research team can apply for the competition. If a team is applying its members must be known. Only one of the project’s representatives will appear on stage.
• The ideas submitted to the competition can be basic or applied research & The idea can involve one scientific field or be cross-disciplinary .
• What is decisive is the idea’s scientific quality, societal relevance, novelty and uniqueness. Naturally, a good idea is clearly communicated.

Your idea must have some requirements as:

• Scientific Courage: Your research proposal must be intriguing, unique and unprecedented.
• Clarity: Your idea must be understood by people not familiar with your field of research.
• Academically ambitious: Your idea need to give a benefit to our the academic world.
• Novelty: Your idea need to have anew concept.
• Impact: Your idea must have impact is relevant to our time and can help us see the world in a new way.
• Pitch: Your pitch is understandable for both, the scientific jury and the audience consisting of people from various backgrounds.

• The winner gets to spend 100 000 euros to advance the idea.
• The winner will stay in close contact with the Skolar Team for 2 years after receiving the prize.

All 8 finalists will receive:

• The eight finalists are given a pitching training that prepares them for a 3-minute pitch in front of a grand audience.
• Free pitching training from communications professionals.
• A world-class academic jury to review your work.Feedback from the jury.
• Inspiring coaching sessions and events to boost your confidence and networking skills during the Slush week in Helsinki.
• A ticket to Slush for the day of the finals and a chance to network with investors.
• Free accommodation and dinner with other finalists in Helsinki.
• A community of like minded researchers to last a lifetime.

Second Step: You will need to prepare your research summary ,also you will need to write about your research importance at this moment and about your resources and about your uniqueness and about idea development and your needs to develop it.

Third Step:You will need to attach:

• You will need to prepare your Curriculum vitae in pdf format and A photo that shows your face.
• If you are in a team, only the team leader’s CV and contact information should be attached. Potential other members of the research team can be given in the application.
