The postdoctoral position is part of a collaborative research project (ISITE–BFC 4D-META) in the broader domain of 4D printing that combines smart material with additive manufacturing for transformable product applications. This research project gathers multiple stakeholders at the regional level to tackle multi-material 4D printing issues. The main objective of the mission consists in design, manufacture and characterize innovating shape-changing actuators or properties changing objects by using smart materials (electroactive polymers, magneto-active elastomers, shape memory alloy), additive manufacturing and stimuli (electric and/or magnetic fields, heat, etc.). The candidate will be able to work within a research platform (TITAN) integrating digital tools, material extrusion equipment (hot-melt extrusion via a twin-screw extruder) and additive manufacturing machines (exploiting processes techniques like Selective Laser Melting, Direct Ink Writing, metal/polymer Fused Filament Fabrication, and post-processing equipment (debinding and sintering). The work can be organized into several tasks that can be processed sequentially or concurrently.
