In order to encourage postdoctoral projects of excellence, the National Institute of Art History (INHA) will award in March 2022 thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation ( MESRI) two postdoctoral contracts lasting one year, renewable for one year.
The amount of monthly remuneration is € 2,183 net (before withholding tax). These postdoctoral contracts are intended for young doctors (0 to 3 years after the thesis) who have defended their doctoral thesis in a European university. To the monthly remuneration is added an annual envelope of 20,000 euros to be shared for the expenses of missions abroad of these two postdoctoral fellows as well as for the organization, if necessary, of scientific events on the initiative of the postdoctoral fellows.
Applications may come from all areas of the human and social sciences but must be concerned with questions of art history and heritage, from prehistory to the present day and the research project must be linked to museums, centers of art or heritage places (collections, architecture, audiences, etc.).
The research developed during the year will likely lead to a research project that can be submitted to the ANR or the ERC at the end of the post-doctorate contract. The INHA will be able to support postdoctoral fellows in familiarizing them with and responding to these calls.
Postdoctoral fellows must provide during their contract for mobility abroad which will be coherent with their research project, and which could possibly be hosted in the mixed units of French research institutes abroad. (UMIFRE) and French Schools Abroad (EFE).
Projects involving research laboratories and museums, art centers or heritage places are particularly encouraged.
The laureates will have a postdoctoral contract with the INHA and may be hosted at the INHA, at the InVisu laboratory, in any other research laboratory in art history or in a museum, art center. or historic place.
In the case of a reception at INHA, postdoctoral fellows will benefit from a physical workstation at INHA, easy access to the INHA library, regular follow-up with the management of the department studies and research as well as with a referent within the teams of the studies and research department of the INHA and meetings with other postdoctoral fellows benefiting from the same system. They will also have the opportunity to participate in internal seminars of the studies and research department and to discuss with INHA researchers.
In the case of a reception requested in another research laboratory or in a museum, art center or heritage place, candidates must attach to their file a letter of acceptance and reception of these establishments.
The beneficiaries of these contracts will have to submit progress reports (after 6, 12, and 18 months in the event of renewal) as well as a final report at the end of their contract to the studies and research department. of the INHA. The beneficiaries also undertake to publish the results of their research and / or to deposit them on the HAL platform within two years after the end of their contract. They will also be encouraged to present the results of their research at national and international events throughout the contract.
SELECTION COMMISSION
Applications will be examined by a jury made up of the director of studies and research for the INHA, a representative of the research and innovation strategy service of the DGRI of MESRI, a representative of the service of the museums of France as well as a panel of four external scientific personalities, French and international, academics and professionals of the heritage.
The excellence of the dossiers will be the main selection criterion.

Applications for the 2022 selection must be submitted online on the INHA platform ( https://candidature.inha.fr/ ) from October 18, 2021 and no later than January 5, 2022 before midnight .
Only applications submitted online on the INHA platform will be taken into account. The selection committee will be held at the end of January or the beginning of February 2022.
