Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or Physics or a related area, with a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching in the area of A.I. for Materials and Computational Chemistry. We seek candidates with significant expertise in methods development and machine learning methodologies for chemistry. Applicant expertise and research interests may include the generation of new molecular and materials representations, or the use of AI for the understanding and exploration of chemical and materials space or for improving the accuracy of simulation methods. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths in Materials Science and Engineering and Chemistry. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding, independent, externally-funded research program. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence as demonstrated by a record of sustained and high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or conferences, the submitted research statement, distinguished awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, and a high international profile in the field, as well as strong endorsements by referees of high standing.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through strong communication skills, teaching accomplishments, strong endorsements by referees, and the teaching dossier submitted with the application, to include a strong teaching statement, sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations.

The candidates will also be reviewed by the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence for consideration of appointment as a Faculty Member or Affiliate Faculty Member.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
