Core Director Position in Single-Cell Biology

Full-time tenured or tenure-track position at assistant, associate and full professor levels.

We are inviting applications for a Core Director Position that offers the successful candidate the opportunity to engage in cutting edge single-cell research. The candidate is encouraged to do research of their own as long as this serves the interest of further advancing the capabilities of the Core Facility. For example, optimization, improving existing technology and developing new, advanced applications is strongly encouraged. Publication, either as co-author or as senior author is important.

Single-Cell Identification and Isolation Core

Services include the isolation of single cells from blood, cell or tissue samples, including human clinical samples using a variety of approaches, including various single-cell dispensing devices (e.g. CellenOne X1, MD Single Cell Printer, MoFlo Astrios) and single-cell retrieval technologies (e.g. ALS CellCelector, MMI CellCut). Comprehensive training for these new technologies will be provided.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant postdoctoral experience with technologies such as FACS sorting, microscopy, and tissue culture. The Core Director will closely collaborate with our existing “Single-cell genomics core”, “Single-cell mass spec”, and “Single-cell bioinformatics” Core Directors. The successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset. Good communication skills are critically important and the candidates should be able to communicate in both Chinese and English.

Center for Single-Cell Omics (CSCOmics)

CSCOmics is a new initiative to conduct biomedical research on genomics, proteomics and metabolomics at the single-cell level, with a focus on the speedy translation of new discoveries and technologies into the clinic. The CSCOmics has its own, completely renovated research building on our medical campus in downtown Shanghai and hosts state-of-the-art single cell equipment. More information about the new center can be obtained from our web site www.shsmu.edu.cn/sph-cscomics or from its Director, Dr. Jan Vijg at jvijg@shsmu.edu.cn.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine is the leading medical school in China and offers a rich and collaborative intellectual environment with state-of-the-art support facilities. The School offers competitive salaries for new faculty with generous packages and housing allowance, dependent on demonstrated scientific experience and excellence.
