Queen Mary University of London is looking for outstanding and highly motivated candidates to apply for the “Engineering Better Medicine” PhD program.
The International PhD program is a strategic cross-cutting research program in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, aiming at the development of new devices, diagnostics and therapeutics, associated manufacturing and testing technology, as well as underpinning bioscience.
The PhD program is seeking candidates for nine fully funded PhD positions across the faculty (incl. the School of Engineering and Materials Science, the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, and the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science). The highly interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the program offers the candidates the opportunity to drive innovation in a transformative research area, as well as training in a wide variety of state-of-the-art techniques with strong relevance for industry and academia alike.
Nine fully funded positions are currently available along the topics:
- New Conjugated Polymers and Polymerisation Processes for Organic Bioelectronic Applications (SPCS)
- Machine learning models to predict the risk of preterm birth (SEMS)
- Computational modelling of myosin mutants for the treatment of congenital myopathies (SPCS)
- Exploring ankle joint and feet tapping neuromotor control for rehabilitation and exercising with virtual reality and robotics (EECS)
- Uncovering The Nanoscale Biophysics of Cutaneous Fibrosis (SEMS)
- Nanobioarrays to screen for modulators of mechanosensing in heart failure (SEMS)
- Membrane Separation in API Manufacture – Scoping and Performance Prediction (SEMS)
- Nanotechnology for hybrid optoelectronic and biosensing systems and devices (SPCS)
- Next generation organ-chip models – integrating 3D mechano-predictive environments (SEMS)
