Choose your undergraduate program

Inspired by the well-established degree established in Oxford over a hundred years ago, this accredited Austrian and American program offers rigorous training in the three disciplines of philosophy, politics and economics. In this multidisciplinary setting, intellectually motivated students will be taught by world-class faculty and will gain many transferable skills by examining complex concepts, arguments and worldviews. Students will learn in their politics courses to think critically about different political and social structures; in philosophy, they will address fundamental questions about reality and our place in it; and in economics, they will learn the principles that govern the production and allocation of resources.

The PPE program is multidisciplinary – students receive extensive training in at least 2 of the 3 PPE disciplines. They can also do serious interdisciplinary work in their thesis or dissertation project, and can take courses outside the EPP framework, which can offer contrasting or more interdisciplinary perspectives on topics of interest to them. This includes 13 elective courses offered by Culture, Politics and Society (CPS), BA’s other program, ranging from human rights to environmental science to nationalism studies. All students in the four-year program also have the opportunity to study abroad as part of their degree.

The Austria-USA Culture, Politics and Society Program (CPS) offers an interdisciplinary program of liberal arts updated for the challenges of the 21st century. The program is based on the reality that to be an independent thinker in our time and ready to work after graduation, students must have skills that go beyond reading and writing. CPS is designed for the generation that grew up after the digital revolution, living in a society awash with information, misinformation and technological transformations that continue to change the way we learn, communicate and interact with each other.

CPS students gain the skills to interpret a wide variety of information, ranging from classic texts to statistical data, to understanding the algorithms behind popular social media charts. They are trained in the essential skills needed to produce knowledge and communicate it in multimedia forms outside the classroom. They are also taught a rich and comprehensive program in the social sciences and humanities, opening many avenues for a fourth year specialization and the completion of a BA.
