Job profile:
Responsibilities: 1. Independent research with a clearly stated research programme and the objective of qualifying as a professor, international and interdisciplinary research in Economic and Social History, acquisition of research projects and external funding, contributing to the Research Area „Cultural Encounters – Cultural Conflicts“ and the Research Center “Medical” Humanities‘. 2. Teaching of classes in Economic and Social History in the necessary breadth. 3. Mentoring students, including (co)supervision of master and diploma theses as well as dissertation projects. 4. Organizational and administrative duties including evaluation measures. Required qualifications: A completed doctoral programme in history with outstanding achievements, relevant academic accomplishments beyond the scope of the dissertation project, post-doc experience; verifiable participation in third-party funding; experience in academic mobility, ability to work in a team as well as social competence. The applicant should have experiences in conducting archival research in the fields of history of medicine, science, and the body since 1750 within a global framework. References to Innsbruck and/or the Alps are considered as a plus. Language skills: Excellent language skills in German and English are mandatory, additional languages are welcome. The application should include an elaborated concept of a research project in the fields of history of medicine, science and the body (maximum of 5 pages; if the project is in progress, please note its current state) and a teaching curriculum (for a class of your choice) according to the University´s bachelor programme for history; in your list of publications please highlight the five most relevant pieces and attach one reading sample (an article or a book chapter).
