The Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) seeks an outstanding candidate to fill a position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Cognitive Aspects of Human Interaction.
The position is sponsored by the Department of Language and Communication and starts 1st February 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The department resides at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense.
The appointment is for four years with the possibility of a subsequent two years of employment as an Associate Professor. Note that teaching obligations will be reduced in this position compared to a regular Assistant Professor position at SDU.
DIAS
DIAS aims to inspire ground-breaking ideas through the meeting of minds across the sciences and humanities. DIAS engages leading academics through its weekly lectures and quarterly colloquia. There is a strong focus on talent development of young researchers who work on game-changing ideas. Eminent academics are appointed as chairs, and in that capacity form the backbone of DIAS as they catalyze activities within their field.
DIAS offers an interdisciplinary research environment, where you will interact with the strongest researchers from the five faculties at University of Southern Denmark. Furthermore, DIAS offer substantial support in applications for further external funding from prestigious national and European funding schemes, e.g., Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and the ERC starting grants.

Cognitive Aspects of Human Interaction
We welcome applicants working with cognitive aspects of human interaction. Applicants are assumed to do research on embodied, enactive, linguistic, sociocultural, or ecological aspects of human interaction by applying methods from, or compatible with, embodied, radical embodied, enactive, ecological, distributed, and/or situated cognitive science. Applicants are expected to pursue game-changing ideas through empirical work.
The successful candidate should have a strong international profile, a strong record of research publications, and have demonstrated exceptional potential to excel in scientific research. We expect the applicants to actively engage in the development of the research unit as well as contribute to the interdisciplinary research in DIAS.

To qualify for the position as assistant professor you must have completed a PhD-degree by the time of employment.
