Professor / Lecturer In Psychosocial Health

At the University of Agder, one to two permanent 100% vacancies are available as professor / lecturer. The position is linked to the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, Department of Psychosocial Health. The main workplace is currently Grimstad. Accession by appointment.

The faculty has four institutes; Department of Health and Nursing Science, Department of Nutrition and Public Health, Department of Sports Science and Physical Education and Department of Psychosocial Health.

There are five undergraduate programs, six master’s programs and one PhD. program in health and sports science at the faculty. In addition, we have a number of continuing education programs. The faculty has three research centers; Center for e-Health, Center for Caring Research and Top Research Center Food and Nutrition in a Lifecourse Nutrition perspective. There are active researchers in the faculty’s various disciplines.

The Department of Psychosocial Health provides educational opportunities for approx. 370 students and in addition to a bachelor’s program in nursing education offerings in family therapy, mental health work, intoxication and addiction problems as well as sexology. It is approx. 30 scientific staff at the institute. The Department of Psychosocial Health has an interdisciplinary research environment that explores issues that often have relevance and link to the content and focus of education. The institute has research groups within  Dialogical practicesRESEX  (REsearch group in SEXology), as well as municipal health work  «A society for all».  

Responsibilities

Current work assignments are subject and coordination responsibilities for courses and, if applicable, study program, teaching, skills training, practice follow-up and supervision of students within several studies in the department’s study portfolio (nursing, mental health work, psychosocial work with children and adolescents, environmental therapeutic approaches, family therapy, drug-related work, ). More information about the study portfolio. The applicant is asked to specify in the application which parts of the study portfolio at the institute that the applicant considers to be qualified to teach within. In addition, applicants are asked to describe their own research and development work in psychosocial health.

Other key tasks will be to help lead the research work at the institute through guidance / mentoring, management of research groups and projects, development of research applications in collaboration with the academic community and other collaborative partners. It will also be possible to enter into commission and committee work.

Guidance of master’s students and PhD candidates will also be relevant depending on the applicant’s competence.

It is expected that the person hired will help strengthen the institute’s research activities in psychosocial health.

Necessary qualifications

For the position of professor, education in the health or social sciences, social sciences or psychology at the doctoral level is required and that the applicant further meets the criteria for employment as professor described in the  Regulations on employment and promotion in teaching and research positions.  Applicants with a different educational background at the doctoral level, with a relevant thematic content for the PhD thesis and further research with relevance to psychosocial health may also be considered.

For the position of lecturer, education in health or social sciences, social sciences or psychology at the doctorate or master’s degree level is required and that the applicant meets the criteria for employment as a lecturer described in the regulations referred to above.

For positions as professor, UiA has  criteria for employees’ educational competence.

For positions as lecturer, documented relevant practical-pedagogical competence is required on the basis of education or teaching and supervision.

For a position as professor / lecturer, the applicant must also be able to document work experience from work relevant to psychosocial health, either through clinical and user-oriented work and / or at the system level.

The working language is Norwegian, and the person hired must be able to speak Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at the time of employment. It is also required that the person who is appointed, in addition to Norwegian, is fluent in English, written and oral.

  • professional development and research in psychosocial health in collaboration with the field of practice.
  • experience from interdisciplinary research and development work in psychosocial health.
  • research and teaching experience related to several studies in the institute’s study portfolio

The position is paid in accordance with the State’s wage regulations, salary plan 17,510, code 1013 professor, NOK 691 400 – 813 400 bto per year, code 1532 lecturer NOK 691 400 – 813 400 bto per year. For especially well-qualified applicants, higher salaries can be considered. From the salary, statutory contributions go to the Government Pension Fund.
