Doctoral Fellow In Health Sciences

At the University of Agder, there is a vacancy of 100% as a doctoral fellow in health sciences for a period of three years, possibly four years with 25% duty work. The position is affiliated with the Department of Health and Nursing Science, Center for e-Health. The workplace is Campus Grimstad. Accession by agreement with the faculty.

The Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences has four institutes; Department of Health and Nursing Science, Department of Nutrition and Public Health, Department of Sport Science and Physical Education and Department of Psychosocial Health. In addition, the faculty has three research centers: the Center for e-Health and Food and Nutrition in a life-cycle perspective, which are two of the university’s top research centers and the Center for Caring Research, south.

Center for e-health is a cross-faculty center with researchers from the faculties of health and sports science, social sciences, technology and science, the School of Economics, the humanities and pedagogy. The center is co-located with  I4Helse, which is a center for innovation and service development within health and care on the university campus in Grimstad .

Responsibilities

This position forms part of the EU project “From Isolation to Inclusion” (I2), which is funded through the  Interreg program for the North Sea region and is managed by the Center for e-Health .

Social isolation and loneliness are one of the major health problems in the Western world and are a major public health challenge. The purpose of the Interreg project is to increase public thinking about social isolation and loneliness where different technologies can be part of the solution. The candidate will participate in the Norwegian part of the project, which will be carried out in collaboration with the municipality of Arendal and will highlight how using technology solutions can help prevent and / or prevent loneliness among the elderly. The project will be closely linked to the municipality’s work in connection with the implementation of the quality reform for the elderly (See Report 15, “Living all life”) and will be implemented in line with the Center for eHealth’s vision of collaboration with users.

Applicants must prepare a project sketch to accompany the application. The project outline should be based on a report for the PhD position which can be obtained by contacting Professor Elin Thygesen ( elin.thygesen@uia.no ) or project manager Ragni McQueen Leifson ( ragni.m.leifson@uia.no ). Research design that emphasizes the active involvement of users in all phases of the research process will be prioritized. The project outline should have a maximum of 10 pages including a literature list, and it should be structured based on the  template for the PhD program in health and sports science . An elaborate project description is expected.

Necessary qualifications

The person who is hired must have an education at the master’s level in health and social sciences or health and social informatics. Applicants with other relevant master’s programs who can document relevant work practice / experience may also be considered.

The position demands to be able to work in a targeted, orderly, concentrated and independent manner. When assessing applicants, emphasis is placed on the results obtained, the relevance of the academic background, any previous development work and published work, as well as the quality and relevance of the project description.

The working language at the University of Agder is Norwegian. Anyone hired must be fluent in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, in writing and orally. Good knowledge of English, written and oral is required.

It is a prerequisite for accession that the PhD candidate is admitted to the  PhD program in Health and Sports Science at UiA.

The position is paid in accordance with the State’s payroll plan salary plan 17,515, code 1017 fellow, NOK 479,600 bto per year. From the salary, statutory contributions go to the Government Pension Fund.
