Job description

As part of Coventry University’s Research Strategy, it is increasing its investment in quality research ‘excellence with impact’. As a result, the University Research Centre for Global Learning: Education and Attainment (GLEA) is looking to appoint a Professor in Gender Studies.

GLEA aims to impact positively and ethically on teaching and learning across the higher education sector, and beyond, by engaging with high quality research and influencing policy and practice. Its focus is around the interface of two main themes: 1) Equity and Attainment, and 2) Intercultural Engagement and Global Learning. For more information visit www.coventry.ac.uk/globallearning

This post will lead and develop interdisciplinary research that will aim to positively impact gender equality for students and staff in the education field both in the UK and around the globe.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant subject, along with a track record of securing external funding and a substantial record of research and publications or other forms of dissemination (such as policy advice) in a relevant field, commensurate with a 3* REF rating.

The Professor will be expected to have an international reputation with the ability to attract world-class academics to collaborate within their field of research. In addition, they will be expected to seek and obtain funding to support the development of research activities; conduct and publish original research; and supervise research students and early career researchers working in this field. This post will also be responsible for recruiting an Assistant Professor to support this pillar of work.

The role provides a unique opportunity to join one of the UK’s most forward thinking and successful modern Universities at a time of rapid expansion in our research capacity. The position will be based in our newly refurbished office space on the Coventry City campus.
