The department of Biosciences and Nutrition (BioNut) is looking for a Professor in Nutrition. BioNut provides an attractive environment for research with close connections to the hospital (K) in Huddinge and supporting infrastructures. The department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.
Your mission
The employment has a focus on research. The successful candidate is expected to lead her/his own research group and carry out excellent research and research education which will strengthen and develop the field of Nutrition both at the department and at KI. Examples of potential research areas include molecular nutrition, epidemiology, prevention and global health. An important role of this Professorship will be to act as a representative of the subject Nutrition at KI. We also expect a real commitment to the Nutritionist education at BioNut: the bachelor’s program in collaboration with Stockholm’s University and the new one-year master’s program at KI. An important goal for the future will be to develop a 2-year master’s program in Nutrition at KI.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for employment as Professor the applicant must have demonstrated both research and teaching expertise, as well as management, development and collaborative skills (See the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet).
The successful candidate should have well documented research experience in the area of Nutrition, either molecular Nutrition or epidemiological studies.
Bases of assessment
The Professorship has a focus on research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: research expertise (3), educational expertise (2), leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2).
Documented experience of clinical research is a merit.
The applicant shall also have completed courses of 10 weeks of higher education training in teaching or have equivalent competence in accordance with the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions recommendations for qualification as a higher education teacher. If the person appointed for the position is lacking such education at the time of the employment, the appointee must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.
After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the candidates, Karolinska Institutet will judge, which of the candidates has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
