Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) establishes 100 new professorships –The Young Investigator Group Preparation Program at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany offers tailored support on your way to your own junior research group. With a junior research group, you can work very independently at an early stage in your academic career and you gain valuable experience, which will serve as an excellent preparation for a professorship.
YIG Prep Pro provides the best conditions for writing a successful proposal for a third-party funded junior research group. You will need to pass a highly competitive procedure which will accompany you through with professional mentorship, personal advice on funding instruments and proposal writing and an individual training program. The YIG Prep Pro qualifies you for an academic career with the goal of becoming a professor.
YIG Prep Pro Fellowship options:
A support scheme with two different fellowship options for International Postdocs is offered:
1. YIG Prep Pro Funded Fellowship for International Postdocs
Spend your postdoc phase at KIT while preparing the proposal for your junior research group. The funding within this option includes your own position as well as initial investments for equipment and your own budget for consumables for a period of two years.
2. YIG Prep Pro Remote Fellowship for International Postdocs
You are currently affiliated with an institution abroad and your current position is already funded? KIT also offers the possibility of remote mentorship and support for preparing the proposal for a third-party funded junior research group to be established at KIT. Twice per program year, the travel expenses for a guest stay at KIT will be covered.
Who can apply?
International researchers, in particular 0 to 3 years after the completion of the doctorate. Applicants should have substantial international research experience (as PhD candidate and/or postdoc).
