Madre’s Viva Girls grant program

MADRE is an international organization defending the human rights of women. They join community groups of women from around the world who face war and disaster. Their mission is to advance the human rights of women by responding to the urgent needs of communities and developing lasting solutions to the crises that women face.

The medjouel.com team informs you that the grants (financial support) will be granted in 2 cycles. These two cycles differ in the timing of receipt of funds, but do not differ in eligibility or any other criteria. Depending on your application and our eligibility criteria, they will take into account the second (and last) phase of the application process.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are  community groups or individuals who:

  • Works with girls and young women (up to 30 years old) who identify as Afro-descendants, disabled, indigenous and / or LGBTIQ, and those from communities facing the climate crisis, war, conflicts, disasters and their consequences.
  • Is based in the VIVA Girls geographic regions: Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Pacific.
  • Seek financial support (a grant) for a community project that works to meet immediate needs and also creates solutions to community challenges.
  • Has an annual operating budget ** of less than US $ 100,000.
  • Plans to implement or is currently implementing work aimed at:
  1. Build a just peace – prevent, survive and recover from war, to create lasting peace.
  2. Advance Climate Justice – defend against the climate crisis and advocate for fair economic and environmental policies.
  3. End gender-based violence – fight abuse and create protections for women, girls and LGBTIQ people.

In addition to meeting all of the above criteria, priority will be given to community groups or individuals who:

  • Are led by people who identify themselves as girls or young women (up to 30 years of age).
  • Apply for grant (financial support) for the first or second time with little or no access to funding from larger donors.

Benefits

  • MADRE supports initiatives through grants (financial support) of $ 100 to $ 20,000 US.
  • They provide flexible financial support which can be used for general support and / or projects, to be used over a period of 12 months. In month 9, they will review the progress with the beneficiaries (successful applicants) to discuss a possible renewal of the project and funding.
