PROGRAM UPDATE: The World Bank and IFC will merge their respective young professional programs into one World Bank Group young professional program (WBG YPP).
The new program is now accepting applications on behalf of three institutions (the World Bank , IFC and MIGA ). Building on the rich heritage of its previous programs, the WBG YPP will recruit and develop future leaders to collaborate effectively through our institutions on common WBG solutions to development challenges.
Young professionals are recruited worldwide, preferably to nationals of member countries of the GBM and countries of operations. We invite all qualified people from various professional, academic and cultural backgrounds to apply.
PROGRAM
The WBG YPP is a two-year leadership development program at the start of a five-year employment contract with the World Bank, IFC or MIGA. All PCs begin the program in Washington, DC, where they engage in intensive training – on the job and in the classroom – to learn the fundamentals of leadership and operations in each institution and how to identify opportunities for joint impact.
KEY FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM
Professional Experience The PCs are full-time employees, making an important contribution to the work program of their respective unit, while creating networks and knowledge across the Bank Group through the PJP. They often join missions in the field, where they work on the front line of GBM operations, learn the key aspects of our work and interact directly with our customers.
Leadership Development Through the WBG YPP program, the PCs develop the fundamental knowledge to contribute to our business and the skills to lead. Activities range from leadership and professional development workshops to networking, mentoring and conversations with WBG leaders.
Training on WBG policies, products and operations The PCs participate in intensive training in the policies, products and operations of the World Bank, IFC and MIGA. This aspect of the GBM’s PC program ensures that the PCs know how to operationalize joint GBM solutions to development challenges, and how to conserve and apply this knowledge for years to come.
Global rotations in GBM PCs participate in at least one rotation within their home institution, some engaging in additional rotations in another institution, with the aim of developing and applying skills across the board. ‘company. Rotations are an essential component of the program, offering the PCs the opportunity to understand how our institutions work (and can work together) as well as how to align their skills with priority areas, such as countries affected by fragility, conflict and violence. FOCUS ON THE GROUND
The WBG YPP offers young professionals a unique opportunity to work on the front line of international development. Applicants must be prepared to relocate for field missions, particularly those that support client countries in situations of fragility, conflict and violence (FCV) and other difficult environments.
Applications for the first WBG YPP cohort are open from June 1 to June 30 for all profiles and will reopen from August 17 to September 21 for IFC and MIGA profiles only .

- Timed IT financial tests
