The Department of Psychology at Western University invites applications from exceptional researchers to fill a tenure-stream academic position in the area of Clinical Psychology, focusing on psychological intervention science. This hire is part of an ongoing intensive recruitment effort and period of renewal within the department. The position is probationary (tenure-track), at the rank of Assistant Professor. However, we will consider exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will have an active research program on the mechanisms, translation, and implementation of psychological interventions that speak to the etiology and maintenance of psychopathology. Candidates with research experience with young adults and/or substance use disorders are preferred. A Ph.D. in psychology with a background in clinical science is required. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to, and capacity for, conducting research and contributing to training within the new Western Psychology Clinic, an on-campus facility that will provide empirically supported interventions and assessments to Western students and the community. Part of the successful candidate’s workload will be to liaise with the Clinic Director and to promote and conduct research at the clinic.
The new Western Psychology Clinic will be a state-of-the-art research, training, and service facility that brings together behavioural scientists with a common interest in the use of evidence-based practice to reduce the burden of mental disorder and to elucidate the etiology of psychopathology. The clinic’s mission is to facilitate the development and implementation of translational clinical science focused on the prevention and intervention of behavioural, emotional, and neurodevelopmental conditions in emerging adulthood. Consistent with this mission, the clinic has four strategic objectives: (1) facilitate transdisciplinary, collaborative, and cutting-edge research related to the assessment and treatment of mental disorders; (2) provide infrastructure for the translation and dissemination of evidence-based approaches to treating common mental health problems; (3) facilitate grant-funded research on assessment, prevention, and intervention; and (4) provide opportunities for student training via hands-on engagement in clinical research, assessment, and treatment. As an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, the successful candidate will develop an active program of research within the clinic and will contribute to graduate student training in the Clinical Science and Psychopathology cluster.
Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and be recognized for research excellence. The successful candidate must have an outstanding record of publishing rigorous and high-quality research, evidence of potential to obtain external research funding, and clear potential for excellence in supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Finally, successful candidates will be expected to become registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as part of their involvement in the clinic and in Clinical Psychology graduate training.
