Medical IT specialist as a research assistant

The Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Technology ISST supports its customers and partners with all questions regarding digitization. It develops innovative and application-oriented solutions for digital services and deals with the construction of complex IT structures and the implementation of suitable solutions for the secure and needs-based collection, processing and provision of information.

Medical informatics builds bridges between a wide range of disciplines for the use of data, information and knowledge in medicine and healthcare. With the Medical Informatics Initiative, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research is creating the conditions for research and care to come closer together. The Fraunhofer ISST supports this vision and is looking for a * scientific * n * to carry out projects independently.

Your tasks

  • Development of specifications and functional specifications together with our partners from industry and science
  • Conception and implementation of health infrastructures taking into account international standards and profiles as well as national recommendations, in particular IHE, HL7 and the electronic case file
  • Support in setting up data integration centers and researching smart data approaches
  • Dealing with regulatory framework conditions, especially data protection and data security (e.g. GDPR)
  • Project planning, project controlling, communication and reporting

What you bring with you

  • University degree (master, diploma) with a very good to good grade point average in the field of medical informatics or with a minor in medical informatics
  • Knowledge of the structures, technical solutions (e.g. telematics infrastructure) and financing models in the German healthcare system
  • Pronounced knowledge in the areas:
    • IT systems (e.g. PVS, HIS, PACS) and electronic file systems in the healthcare sector
    • Standards (e.g. HL7, IHE) and regulatory framework (MPG) in healthcare
  • Knowledge of software development with an object-oriented programming language (focus on Java (EE))
  • Pronounced analytical and communicative skills
  • Very good knowledge of German and English

Employment, remuneration and social benefits are based on the public service agreement (TVöD).
The position is initially limited to 2 years. There is the possibility of an extension.
The weekly worktime is 39 hours.
