Postdoctoral Fellow in Neural Stem Cells and Brain Organoids

Available position:

A fully-funded postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Liang Ma at UT Health San Antonio in the Department of Pharmacology and the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases (https://biggsinstitute.org/research/team-members/ma-lab/).

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in stem cell biology techniques include differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) into neurons, glial cells or cerebral organoids. Experience in electrophysiology, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, qPCR, CRISPR editing, and cloning are preferred. High level of motivation, responsibility and independence are expected. Competitive salary will commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

About the lab:

The lab seeks to bridge the gap between neurogenetics and neurobiology by integrating computational biology, molecular biology and stem cell biology. The lab’s vision is to decode the gene transcription and advance the understanding of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases. Massive multi-omic data from human postmortem brain is computing. Human iPSCs from healthy controls and patients are culturing and manipulating. This integrative approach allows the lab to interrogate the versatile and interconnected function of genes, cells and tissues, going from a system-level view to specific molecular mechanisms.

UT Health San Antonio is ranking #52 in Best Medical Schools: Research by US News (https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-medical-schools/the-university-of-texas-health-science-center-at-san-antonio-04114).
