Description:
The Colby College Department of Geology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Geology at
the level of Assistant Professor, starting July 1, 2024. We seek qualified candidates whose expertise will
complement that of existing faculty. Possible areas of specialization include, but are not limited to,
geomorphology and surficial processes, hydrology and water resources, sedimentology and stratigraphy,
geophysics, and critical zone processes. Colby requires strong, innovative teaching, and an active
research program involving undergraduate collaborators. The successful candidate will design and teach
an introductory course and upper-level undergraduate courses in their area of expertise. Ideal
candidates will be eager to contribute to our introductory geology curriculum and will offer our majors
instruction in remote sensing, data science, modeling, and GIS. The search committee is especially
interested in candidates who bring diverse perspectives and backgrounds, and candidates who have a
record of success advising and mentoring individuals from groups underrepresented in the geosciences.
