The Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor levels. The positions will be supported by substantial start-up packages, highly competitive salaries, office/research space, and access to exceptional core facilities.

The Department of Genetics and Genome Sciences is a highly interdisciplinary unit with 39 faculty members who influence the fields of human genetics and genomics, model systems (including invertebrate, mouse, and human induced pluripotent stem cells), translational genomics, cancer genetics/genomics, systems biology research, chemical biology and therapeutics, developmental genetics, and clinical genetics. The Department includes the Center for Human Genetics, which encompasses all medical genetics activities at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, and the Seidman Cancer Center, providing a unique bridge for translational studies. State-of-the-art research laboratories with access to core facilities in genomic sequencing, transcriptomics, pluripotent stem cell production, imaging, engineered mouse models, bioinformatics, high throughput chemical/drug screening and animal services significantly enhance research and training within the department. The Department has active PhD and genetic counseling (MS) graduate programs and medical genetics residency programs.

Candidates should have a PhD and/or MD with a strong record of research accomplishments. Successful candidates are expected to develop innovative and externally funded research programs, participate in departmental education programs, and contribute to service opportunities. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should have a demonstrated record of success with substantial potential to obtain external funding. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levels should have robust and active research programs and demonstrable national or international reputations, respectively. Associate and Full Professor candidates should also be effective mentors and leaders.

This search will give preference to applicants who complement ongoing programs in translational research on genetic therapy (including CRISPR, RNA, ASO, AAV, and related technologies) and chemical biology (including high throughput screening and therapeutic discovery).
