Dr. Wei Li’s laboratory at Department of Ophthalmology, Cullen Eye Institute, Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Associate. Our translational research focuses on drug target discovery and novel therapy development to treat ocular vascular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and retinopathy of prematurity.

Job Duties

  • Performs experiments involving molecular biology, phage display, cell biology, protein expression and purification, protein-protein interaction, immunohistochemistry and in vivo gene therapy. Knowledge of ophthalmology and experience in ophthalmic or animal surgery skills are not necessary but a plus.
  • Performs basic animal research, including injections, in vivo analyses, etc.
  • Manages mice colony to include husbandry, etc.
  • Writes manuscripts and postdoctoral fellowship applications
  • Organizes lab, reviews inventory and orders supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • It is preferred that candidates demonstrate scientific productivity with peer-reviewed publications and strong commitment to scientific research. Recipients of recent PhD or MD degree are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with experience in molecular biology, cell biology, protein biochemistry and/or gene therapy are strongly encouraged to apply. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
