Assistant Professor in microbiology, infectiology and oral immunology
Department of Stomatology, Faculty of Dental Medicine
The Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Université de Montréal, located in the heart of the city of Montreal, is looking for an assistant professor in microbiology, infectiology, and oral immunology to join the dynamic team of its Department of Stomatology. The selected person will work in collaboration with many professors involved in basic and clinical research and will be an educational resource for future dentists graduating from the Faculty. As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of your Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Université de Montréal…
…through your teaching and your research activities. You will also ensure the visibility of your discipline in addition to actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution. As such, you will:
- Provide didactic teaching in microbiology, infectiology and immunology as well as related disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Ensure a weekly presence in the clinic and teach the basic principles of infection control in the dental setting;
- Develop a research program in microbiology, immunology or infection control in the medical and dental setting and participate in the supervision of graduate students;
- Contribute to the operation of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and the Université de Montréal;
- Promote and diffuse your research through scientific publications and during conferences to the scientific community as well as to the public.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- To hold a Ph.D. in microbiology or immunology. Postdoctoral experience is an asset;
- To develop practical expertise in the field of infection control in the medical and dental setting;
- To teach microbiology and immunology at undergraduate and graduate levels;
- To develop structuring research projects having a clinical impact in fields such as dental microbiology and biofilm, aerosols, bacterial resistance, microbial structural biology, antibacterial peptides, as well as the possible association between systemic diseases, oral microflora, and periodontal diseases;
- To work in collaboration with established research teams;
- To build relationships with researchers from various departments, faculties, and universities;
- To compete for research funding from provincial, national, and international granting agencies;
- An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
