The cross-border region Denmark-Germany is turning into a powerhouse in industrial electronics. Very recently, the Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) was established by a strong partnership between industry, academia and regional authorities. CIE is located at the campus of SDU Sønderborg and surrounded by a vibrant industrial environment. CIE is part of Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.
We are seeking an innovative multidisciplinary postdoctoral researcher for the Centre for Industrial Electronics in Sønderborg. The position will initially be for two years with the possibility of extending to up to three years and will focus on the development of thin-film polymer capacitors with advanced high-temperature self-healing capabilities. The position will start 1 December 2023 at the earliest.
The Centre for Industrial Electronics currently has 40 staff including senior (full and associate professors) and junior (assistant professors and Postdocs) academic staff, PhDs and support staff. This is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. The financial foundation for this growth as well as for the development of new research and test laboratories in key disciplines for Industrial Electronics has been secured. On this basis, we strive for unique and excellent value in research, innovation and education. It is our vision that Electrical Engineering at SDU will excel in areas of key relevance for companies in the region of Southern Denmark and beyond.
Candidates are required to have a proven research record in at least one of the following fields:
– Materials science
– Thin-film electronic device fabrication
– Ink formulation chemistry
– Capacitor materials development
– Polymer science
– Electrostatic modelling/high voltage physics
The candidates must have a PhD in engineering or natural sciences. We also expect:
– Direct experience with spin coating, slot-die coating, or similar
– Experience with electronic device design, fabrication, and characterisation
– Familiarity with capacitor materials and their design
– A track-record of interdisciplinary research
– An outstanding research and publication track record
The position is limited in time for 17 month. Starting date 1.3.2024
