7th EDITION OF THE SCIENCE BY WOMEN
PROGRAM APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
TO VISIT SPANISH CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE
Deadline for submission of proposals September 30, 2021
The Women for Africa Foundation ( FMxA ), in accordance with its mission to contribute to the development of Africa through the dynamism of its women, is launching the 7th edition of the SCIENCE BY WOMEN program, with the aim of promoting the leadership of African women in scientific research and technology transfer and to strengthen the capacity of research centers in their countries of origin. The main objective is to enable African women researchers and scientists to meet the major challenges facing Africa through research in the fields of health and biomedicine, sustainable agriculture and food security, water, energy and climate change.
Given the exceptional challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic, some of the scholarships focus on research and innovation led by African women scientists from diverse and interdisciplinary approaches.
The lives of women are strongly affected by the repercussions of uncontrolled development; however, social, structural and economic barriers limit their ability to meet the major challenges facing the continent. Gender disparities in science and technology in the public and private spheres affect the African population as a whole. Closing this gap, which has serious consequences for the balanced and sustainable development of African countries, is vital for achieving long-term progress and equal growth.
The ultimate goal of the program is to enable African women researchers to play a leading role in Africa’s transition to a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy through research that can be transferred into products, processes , services and technologies that impact people. the life.
To achieve this ambitious goal, FMxA collaborates with Spanish centers of excellence, whose prestige is unanimously recognized throughout Spain and internationally, thus guaranteeing excellence in scientific research in various fields. In this 7th edition our associated research centers are:
