INTERNATIONAL ADMISSION PROCESS
Valpo’s faculty and its inclusive community welcome international students. In 2018, students from 38 countries studied at Valpo. We know that applying from abroad can be difficult, which is why we have made our admissions process as easy and efficient as possible. Follow the steps below. WE NEED THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST:
- Your undergraduate application at the University of Valparaiso
- Visiting / exchange student request
- If you intend to apply as a graduate student, please see Apply as an International Graduate Student
- A copy of your passport
- 3 (three) years of high school transcripts, with an English translation if in another language.
We will accept unofficial transcripts for review of applications.
* medjouel.com informs you that official transcripts are required during registration if they are not provided at the time of the request- Your transcripts are considered official if:
- They are sent directly by your guidance counselor or another high school official.
- You bring them to campus in a sealed and stamped envelope straight from your high school.
- They are sent directly by a credential assessor, such as Educational Credential Assessors (ECE), World Education Services (WES) or similar.
- They are provided by a government sponsoring agency or an EducationUSA agent.
- Your transcripts are considered official if:
- Test results and proof of proficiency in English.
If you are an international student and need a visa to study in the United States, you must meet the requirements of the University of Valparaiso English test.- How to meet the requirements of the English test
- Submit one of the following: SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, iTEP, IGCSE A and O Levels, or International Baccalaureate (IB). You can submit more than one type of test on your request
- If you are a transfer student from a US college or university and have successfully completed 24 credit hours, you have met our English test requirements.
- If you have completed 2 years and graduated / graduated from a high school in the USA, you have met our English test requirements.
- If you have obtained an A or a B on the English exam for IGCSE A / O levels, you have passed our English test requirements.
- If your country of permanent residence is the United Kingdom (UK) or Australia, we will waive your English test requirement.
- The University of Valparaiso has several university-to-university partnerships. It is only through these partnerships that students can master English through an agreed memorandum of understanding.
- The University of Valparaiso International Admissions is currently accepting the Duolingo test (which you can take online at home) due to the closure of the COVID-19 virus testing center. We understand that these closures may impact you and make it difficult to meet the English Proficiency Test requirements for admission at this time .
- How to meet the requirements of the English test
THE FOLLOWING NOTES ARE ACCEPTABLE:
- SAT (minimum reading and writing score of 500)
- ACT (minimum English score of 24)
- TOEFL (75 iBT minimum)
- The IELTS (6.0 minimum) must be less than 2 years old to be validated.
- iTEP (3.8 or higher)
- PTE (56 or more)
- GCE or GCSE English exam (A / O levels) (A or B grade)
- IB senior level English exam (grade 5, 6 or 7, or grade A or B)
- Duolingo (100 or more) in light of COVD-19 (subject to change) Scores must be sent via Duolingo which is free. We will not accept PDF copies of score reports and we will validate your scores through Duolingo
- Completion of level 112 at an ELS language center. Conditional admission may be available for some students who have not yet met our English proficiency requirements.
