Chinese researchers identify more aggressive and contagious coronavirus strain

A more contagious and more aggressive “L” type
It would thus be a variation of the virus within the same species. These variations manifest themselves in “nucleotide polymorphism” as the researchers call it. In humans this can characterize variations that explain why some people are more susceptible to a disease or respond better to a drug, notes L’Obs . According to this study, the “L” type of SARS-COV would be the most common, and would be encountered in approximately 70% of the reported cases of Covid-19, while the “S” type would be found only in 30% of the cases studied .

Researchers believe that the “S” type of the virus is the oldest, and comes from animal strains, it is also the least aggressive for humans. As for the “L” type, it would have evolved from the “S” type, and would have adapted to the human population, it would thus be more contagious and more violent than the older type.

The number of cases of new coronavirus in the world rose to 95,371, including 3,284 deaths, in 84 countries and territories, according to a report established by AFP from official sources this Thursday morning. China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) had 80,409 cases, including 3,012 deaths. Elsewhere in the world, 14,962 cases were listed on Thursday, including 272 deaths.
