The TRU School of Education seeks to fill a full-time tripartite tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are looking for education scholars specializing in one or more of the following areas of K-12 education: counselling in K-12 settings, special education in K-12 settings, leadership in K-12 settings, and/or research methodology. Strong candidates will have teaching experience in K-12 and post-secondary settings. In addition, we seek individuals who are keen to take on leadership roles within the School of Education.

This position will have teaching responsibilities in the School of Education’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Tripartite positions entail teaching, and service. It is expected that service to the School of Education, TRU, and the broader community is greeted with enthusiasm and an ongoing, sustained commitment to substantial committee work and other leadership opportunities.

  • A PhD, EdD or equivalent in a relevant field is required. All but dissertation (ABD) will be considered.
  • A minimum of one (1) degree in an area of Education is required.
  • Three (3) years of full time or equivalent hours teaching in K-12 settings is strongly preferred
  • Evidence of successful post-secondary teaching experience is preferred.
  • A demonstrated record of scholarship including a developing record of peer-reviewed and other publications in education and in one or more of the fields identified (counselling; special education; leadership) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in programs and practices that support diversity, inclusion, and intercultural understanding between local, regional, and global communities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas being considered in this posting as seen in research, teaching and service is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62).
  • Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63).
  • Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10).
