PROFESSORSHIP FOR APPLIED ETHICS OF DIGITAL WORKING ENVIRONMENTS

to start as soon as possible.

Ref. No. MKT 426 – P0322

We are looking for an individual with a university degree (Diplom, Master) in the field of applied ethics (e.g. business ethics, ethics in information technology) or in law specialising in IT law (e.g. internet, data protection, media or telecommunications law) or a comparable subject. The future incumbent is assumed to be qualified by virtue of an above-average doctorate or relevant achievements equivalent to a doctorate with clear references to the scope of the professorship. The incumbent is also required to demonstrate having excelled in the application or development of scientific findings and methods in the course of more than five years’ practical professional experience relevant to ethics in digital working environments, of which at least three years are to have been outside of a university context. We are looking for an individual with sound practical experience in addressing ethical issues in connection with technical or information systems, gained from having held positions of responsibility in companies, universities, professional associations or similar institutions. Ideally, the incumbent will also have relevant international experience and a track record of publication in academic journals. Experience in the acquisition of external funding or grants is also desirable. The incumbent is expected to help raise the profile of the faculty and enhance its acquisition of external funding by conducting research and development. In line with the application concept for the establishment of digitalisation professorships at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, the incumbent is also expected to contribute to the creation of a Digital Literacy Lab and the development of online teaching and learning arrangements. With a view to further developing the university’s international outlook, the incumbent is expected to be willing to establish and/or expand international cooperation, e.g. with partner universities, and to offer classes delivered in English in the context of Bachelor and Master programmes. The successful candidate is also expected to play an active role in continuing education programmes and in university self-government. In all other respects, Section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) applies to the conditions governing the appointment.

We look forward to recruiting an individual with above-average qualifications who will make an interdisciplinary contribution to our teaching and research. You will support us in our self-administration and the ongoing development of the university, and in enhancing our international profile, e.g. by conducting classes in the English language or by cooperating with foreign universities. Motivated students, exciting projects and committed colleagues are waiting for you!
