The Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology at the University of Göttingen is seeking to fill a permanent professorship with civil servant status (grade W2 NBesO) at the earliest possible date:

W2 Professorship in

Hydrology of multifunctional landscapes (f/m/d)

We are looking for a team player and dedicated person to represent the field of hydrology in research and teaching in its entire breadth with a focus on multifunctional landscapes. Research shall address hydrological processes in forests and different agricultural systems in a landscape context. Specific research areas may include climate change and/or land use impacts on hydrologic processes, extreme hydrologic events, or spatial interactions of hydrologic processes at the landscape scale. The professorship is expected to establish close collaborations with other departments of the faculty and the university and to actively participate in existing research projects and in the establishment of new ones. The professorship substantially strengthens the faculty foci on “Forest Ecosystems and Biodiversity” and “Sustainable Forestry and Global Change”. Methodologically, the focus will be on hydrological measurements, process‐oriented modelling remote sensing and/or data‐driven approaches applying artificial intelligence methods.

The position entails the following teaching responsibilities: Subject‐specific contributions in the bachelor and master programs of the faculty, especially in the master specializations “Ecosystem Sciences” and “Ecosystem Analysis and Modelling”. Due to the international profile of the professorship and the students, some of the courses are to be held in English and German. It is expected that the professorship will actively participate in the further internationalization of the courses offered. The university emphasizes research‐oriented teaching.

Preconditions for appointment are laid down in § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the currently valid version.
