The conservation internship program is designed to share CCA expertise with students and young professionals in architecture, design, arts, literature and cultural sciences who wish to explore editorial and curatorial work in architecture. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the CCA’s conservation approach – notably its collection, its exhibitions, its editorial projects and its research programs – through a nine-month internship in Montreal starting in the fall 2020.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 9, 2020.
Eligibility and conditions
Students and young professionals born on or after January 1, 1990 are eligible for the annual conservation internship program, regardless of their nationality and place of residence. We expect interns to have completed or be enrolled in a university-level program.
The program offers a monthly allowance of $ 2,500 CAD over a nine-month period, calculated to defray the cost of living in Montreal (subject to Canadian and Quebec tax laws, if applicable). The languages used at the CCA are English and French. The internship is not renewable.
responsibilities
Under the direction of the chief curator, interns will collaborate in the research and preparation of exhibitions, publications, educational initiatives, public programs and communication and collection activities.
Application requirements
Applications must be submitted via the online application portal of the CCA and consist of the following 2 documents in English or French, in PDF format (5MB maximum for each folder):
1) A critical analysis of 750 to 1,000 words of an object, article, event or exhibition from the CCA collection;
2) A curriculum vitae detailing education, professional experience, working languages and all other relevant information.
The contact details of two academics or professionals who know the candidate and his work must also be provided.

Selection
The CCA will select the trainees and notify all the candidates by the end of April 2020. The CCA will select the candidates according to their curriculum, the relevance of their critical reflection on the architecture and their planned trajectory in the fields of conservation. and publication.
The internship will only be effective after the beneficiary has obtained all the authorizations from the immigration authorities of Quebec and Canada required to be legally authorized to carry out the internship in Canada.
