Mathematics Assistant Professor -The University of British Columbia (UBC)

The Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, Irving K. Barber Faculty of Science at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Preference will be given to candidates specializing in optimization, though strong candidates with specialties in closely related areas of mathematics will be given full consideration.  The ideal candidate will have the ability to integrate with existing research expertise in the department and to engage in applied research in collaboration with industry and other non-academic partners. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field and will become a member of the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics (cmps.ok.ubc.ca). The appointment is expected to commence on July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.

The Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, at UBC’s Okanagan campus, is a dynamic and highly interdisciplinary department of more than 30 faculty members with deep strength in optimization and with research clusters in data science, machine learning, and medical physics, as well as active engagement in the scholarship of teaching.
