Assistant Professor Tenure Track – Statistics -The University of British Columbia (UBC)

The Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in stochastic processes, spatial statistics and/or modern nonparametrics, though strong candidates with specialties in closely related areas of statistics will be given full consideration. The ideal candidate will have the ability to integrate with existing research expertise in the department and to engage in applied research in collaboration with industry and other non-academic partners. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Statistics or a closely related field and will become a member of the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics https://cmps.ok.ubc.ca/. The appointment is expected to commence on July 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.

The Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics is a dynamic and highly interdisciplinary department of more than 40 faculty members with deep strength in optimization and with growing research clusters in astrophysics, data science, machine learning, and medical physics, as well as active engagement in the scholarship of teaching.
