The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Professor in
»Law of Digital Goods and Digital Commerce«
to begin in winter semester 2020/21. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor) or a tenured W3 (Associate or Full) position. The professorship will presumably be endowed by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Management and is affiliated with the TUM School of Govern-ance. The School of Management offers a dynamic scientific environment for scholars to educate talented students and pursue relevant research at the intersection of management, engineering and the natural and life sciences. The TUM School of Management is one of the world’s few triple crown schools, meaning that it is holding accreditations by AMBA, AACSB, and also EQUIS. The School of Governance focuses its research and teaching on the interaction between politics, society and technology, so as to integrate future technologies into the political dialogue and decision-making, as one example.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scholars. We seek to appoint a legal expert in the law of digital goods and digital transactions in the internet economy, with a special interest in the platform economy. The teaching obligation includes courses in the university’s bachelor’s and master’s programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with advanced scientific experience, proven by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards, according to the relevant career level. Prerequisites are a university degree in law and an outstanding doctoral degree in law and/or economics and/or business administration or an equivalent scientific qualification and furthermore pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English. Substantial international research experience and the commitment to engage in interdisciplinary research are expected as a given.
